Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Health is seeking a Security Officer to provide a safe environment for patients and staff. This role includes patrolling, responding to emergencies, maintaining order, and assisting with public safety.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to public service calls, including criminal offenses.

Job Summary

The Security Officer 2 provides customer service and a safe environment for patients, visitors, medical staff, and employees. Incumbents may face bad weather while patrolling areas to detect fire or safety hazards and deter crime. Safeguards company assets and property from theft and criminal mischief. Investigates thefts, accidents, improper actions, and criminal offenses. Promotes good public and staff relations.

Essential Functions
  • Patrol assigned areas for unauthorized persons or crime sources. Maintain clear, appropriate, and continuous radio contact with base, shift supervisor, and other officers.
  • Maintain order in the local environment. Intervene in disturbances calmly and efficiently, guided by courtesy, rules, and regulations.
  • Respond to public service calls, including criminal offenses and civil processes. Handle hospital violations or customer service requests such as escorting patients, visitors, medical staff, and employees to parking areas. Provide assistance with stalled vehicles, unlocking vehicles, and parking equipment malfunctions.
  • Assist Police Officers as required to maintain order; include assisting with arrests when requested.
  • Respond without hesitation and assist with all medical emergencies as required, within the scope of the officer's training and expertise.
  • Maintain secure facilities by ensuring various doors are locked as required. Unlock facilities upon receiving proper authorization.
  • Produce complete, accurate, and concise reports. Include criminal offenses, false fire alarms, safety hazards, and general information. Consistent with internal processes and law.
  • Handle sensitive investigations and information in a professional manner, safeguarding confidential information obtained through investigation or from law enforcement authorities.
  • Control the flow of traffic at designated points of interest. Issue citations for parking violations.

  • Stays current with applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws and guidelines that impact or govern the department and organization.
  • Successfully completes the Texas Commission on Private Security Academy Levels II and III within three months of hire date.
  • Attain and maintain a minimum passing score of 80% accuracy during firearms qualification and requalification.
