Job summary

Slippery Rock University seeks a Security Officer 1 | Dispatcher to support the University Police Department on Main Campus. You will dispatch officers, answer phone and radio calls, and direct traffic and parking for patrol services.

The position requires passing criminal background checks, availability for nights, weekends, and overtime, and basic computer skills. A valid driver’s license is preferred but not required.

Work Schedule

• Current opening is the 3pm-11pm shift
• Two consecutive days off, this opening’s days off are Tuesday and Wednesday
• May be required to work holidays and mandatory overtime (which may consist of working the 7am-3pm, 3pm-11pm, and 11pm-7am shifts)

Minimum Qualifications

Successful performance in a campus interview and passing a criminal background check.

Preferred Qualifications

Valid driver’s license preferred; but not required.

Experience in dispatching, call centers, or law enforcement preferred.

Excellent communication skills and ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.

Knowledge of common building safety practices.

Experience working with diverse cultures and possess an understanding of diverse populations.
