Job summary

Ko-Kwel Casino Resort in Oregon’s southern coast region is seeking a dedicated security team member to promote a safe, secure environment for guests and employees. The role includes patrolling, escorting, reporting incidents, and ensuring policy compliance.

Qualified candidates will have a High School Diploma or GED, be 21+, hold an OLCC certification, and possess strong written communication and safety awareness.

Qualifications

  • Minimum High School Diploma or GED. Must be 21+.
  • Experience in public safety, casino security, or hospitality is preferred.
  • Ability to speak effectively to a diverse audience and follow instructions.
  • Strong written communication and observation skills for reports.
  • Must maintain OLCC, CPR and First Aid certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Keep spaces safe, clean, and friendly for guests and team; report safety concerns.
  • Report safety issues and hazards to Supervisor or Safety Committee.
  • Provide guest and employee escorts to ensure safety and protection.
  • Escort for large sums of money and chips to secure transfers.
  • Ensure compliance with casino policy and report infractions.
  • Conduct patrols of casino and surrounding property.
  • Assist with machine and table drops.
  • Maintain knowledge of banned guests and trespassers; vie for proper notifications.
  • Accept IDs from under-21s to ensure gaming regulation compliance.
  • Intervene verbally or physically to stop disruptions.
  • Monitor for suspicious activity or drug use and report.

Why this job matters

The primary function of this position is to promote a safe and secure environment for the Ko-Kwel Casino Resort, its guests, and employees. This position also observes and ensures that overall operations conform to casino policy.

What you bring to the table
  • Make sure the space stays safe, clean, and friendly for both guests and the rest of the team; speak up and report any safety concerns to the Safety Committee.
  • Report safety issues and hazards to Supervisor and/or Safety Committee.
  • Provide guest and employee escorts to and from the casino when requested or as needed to ensure their safety and protection.
  • Provide escorts for large sums of money and chips in the casino to ensure the security of transfer.
  • Ensure compliance of casino policy and report policy infractions to immediate supervisors.
  • Provide patrols of all casino and surrounding company property i.e., CEDCO building & Tribal offices.
  • Conduct and/or assist with machine and table drops.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of those guests and/or employees who have been banned from re-entering the property, and advises appropriate individuals and departments when observing trespassers on property.
  • Accepts identification from all persons who appear to be under the age of twenty-one, to ensure compliance with applicable gaming regulations.
  • Provide appropriate verbal or physical interventions in order to stop altercations or other disruptions on property.
  • Observe and report any suspicious activity or drug use to supervisors.
  • Observe and use proper chain of command.
  • Respond to and/or assist with medical emergencies.
  • Maintain daily activity reports and head counts.
  • Perform dispatch duties and may coordinate solutions or provide guidance to guests and employees during drills or emergency situations.
  • Operates company vehicles as directed.
  • Generate necessary written reports regarding security related incidents involving guests, employees and/or the facility.
  • Operate security surveillance system.
  • Jump in where needed to support the team and keep things running smoothly. (Other duties as assigned)
Must-haves, nice-to-haves, and maybe some bonus points
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Must have a current valid Oregon Driver's License.
  • Candidates with one year of previous public safety, casino security, military or other related experience preferred.
  • Candidates with a background in customer service or previous experience in the hospitality industry desired.
  • The ability to speak effectively and persuasively to a diverse customer and employee base and follow verbal instructions.
  • Strong written communication and observation skills with the ability to write reports and correspondence.
  • The ability to read and comprehend documents such as safety rules, policies and procedures and instructions.
  • Must maintain OLCC certification.
  • Must maintain CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Computer skills must include Microsoft Word, Office, and Windows applications and also ability to learn I-Trak database.
  • Must pass and remain in compliance with Coquille Gaming Commission background check and drug free workplace policies.
  • Ability to travel as needed to support other locations.
