Job summary

JW Marriott Turnberry Miami Resort & Spa is seeking a Security Officer to protect guests, associates, and property while maintaining a premium guest experience.

The role requires vigilance, strong communication, and the ability to work flexible schedules, including holidays and weekends, in a luxury resort environment.

Qualifications

• Professional demeanor suitable for a luxury environment.
• Six months of experience in a high-volume or luxury hotel setting preferred.
• CPR, First Aid and AED certifications preferred.
• Knowledge of MS Shift, Key Watcher or SAFLOK is a plus.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Maintain surveillance of resort areas and CCTV systems.
• Respond to incidents in a timely manner and document them.
• Assist guests with directions to rooms or entry into rooms.
• Adhere to radio etiquette and hotel security policies.
• Complete security activity logs and incident reports accurately.
• Defuse threats or violence within the resort when needed.
• Respond to emergencies including medical or security events.

Scope of Position

The Security Officer ensures the safety and security of all guests, members, Associates, patrons, and visitors. He/she will strive to provide the highest degree of professional and courteous service and protect and care for the assets of JW Marriott Miami Turnberry Resort & Spa.

Position Requirements

• Professional demeanor appropriate for a luxury environment.
• Able to handle a multitude of tasks in an ever-changing environment.
• CPR, First Aid and AED Certifications, preferred.
• Knowledge of MS Shift, Key Watcher, SAFLOK is a plus.
• Minimum of six (6) months experience in a high-volume capacity, or luxury hotel/resort atmosphere preferred.
• Must possess a valid driver's license as this position requires driving a company golf cart throughout the property.

Responsibilities

• Always comply with JW Marriott Miami Turnberry Resort & Spa regulations to encourage a safe and efficient resort operation.
• Adhere to office policies set forth by security management.
• Assist guests to their rooms or assist guests w/entry into their rooms according to hotel standards.
• Answer phones using standard greeting and assist the caller with their needs.
• Maintain continual surveillance of resort areas, bordering property, and CCTV systems.
• Always use proper radio etiquette.
• Complete security activity logs, documenting all activity during shift.
• Respond to all incidents in a timely manner.
• Ensure all incident reports are completed accurately.
• Defuse any incidents of threats or violence within the resort.
• Respond to emergency situations, including medical, security, guest complaints, etc.
• Administer First Aid/CPR, as necessary.
• Control all keys within the guidelines established.
• Check all packages and Associate bags via the staff entrance/exit, or entrance of the parking areas.
• Maintain awareness of all suspicious persons and escort them off the property if warranted. Check and record identification of suspicious persons.
• Conduct rounds throughout the resort, paying particular attention to unsecured areas. Document any discrepancies.
• Knowledgeable of the resorts computerized locking system.
• Receive and process all lost and found items as per procedures established.
• Respond to all guest requests immediately.
• Perform any additional duties as required by management.

Education

• High school diploma: experience in a large hotel environment, preferred.

Skills and Abilities

• Able to communicate in the English language. Second language is a plus.
• Able to work flexible schedules including holidays and weekends and able to perform multiple tasks.
• Experience using computers and software programs such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Must be physically fit to lift, pull, and push items up to 100 pounds.
• Also requires standing/walking/reaching and bending throughout shift.
