Job summary

JW Marriott Turnberry Miami Resort & Spa in Aventura, FL seeks a Security Officer to ensure guest safety and protect resort assets. You will provide professional service, greet guests, and respond to emergencies while maintaining high standards of security and hotel operations.

The role requires outstanding guest services and communication skills, with experience in a luxury hotel environment preferred. CPR/First Aid certifications are a plus, and you may work overnight with flexible scheduling.

Qualifications

• High school diploma; experience in a large hotel environment preferred.
• Outstanding guest services skills, professional presentation, and communication skills.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
• CPR, First Aid and AED certifications preferred.
• Knowledge of MS Shift, Key Watcher, SAFLOK is a plus.
• At least 1 year of progressive experience in a luxury resort or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests warmly and personally at every interaction.
• Comply with JW Marriott Turnberry Miami standards and regulations for safe, efficient operations.
• Adhere to security office policies.
• Respond promptly to guest requests.
• Assist guests to their rooms and manage entry according to standards.
• Assist during medical emergencies.
• Answer phones with standard greeting and assist callers.
• Maintain surveillance of resort areas and CCTV systems.
• Use proper radio etiquette at all times.
• Complete security activity logs and incident reports accurately.
• Respond to incidents quickly and defuse threats or violence.
• Administer First Aid/CPR as necessary.
• Control keys within established guidelines.
• Check packages and bags at staff entrances and parking areas.
• Challenge unauthorized persons and escort off property when warranted.
• Conduct rounds and document any discrepancies; know resort locking systems.
• Handle lost and found items per procedures.
• Maintain professional appearance and wear issued uniform/equipment.
• Perform additional duties as requested by management.

• Ensure all incident reports are completed accurately.
• Defuse any incidents of threats or violence within the resort.
• Respond to emergency situations, including medical, security, guest complaints, etc.
• Administer First Aid/CPR, as necessary.
• Control all keys within the guidelines established.
• Check all packages and associate bags via the staff entrance/exit, or entrance of the parking areas.
• Challenge all suspicious persons and escort them off the property if warranted. Check and record identification of suspicious persons.
• Conduct rounds throughout the resort, paying attention to unsecured areas. All discrepancies must be documented.
• Knowledgeable of the resorts computerized locking system.
• Receive and process all lost and found items as per procedures established.
• Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which will include wearing the proper uniform, name tag and only issued equipment.
• Perform any additional duties requested by management.

Education

• High school diploma: experience in a large hotel environment, preferred.

Skills and Abilities

• Ability to communicate in the English language. Second language is a plus.
• Ability to work overnight and flexible schedules including holidays and weekends and able to perform multiple tasks.
• Experience using computers and software programs such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Must be physically fit to lift, pull, and push items up to 50 pounds.
• Also requires standing/walking/reaching and bending throughout shift.
