Job summary

HSHS is seeking a Security Officer for St. John's Hospital in Springfield, IL. This full-time night-shift role (6pm–6am) focuses on patrolling and safeguarding patients and staff at a major hospital campus.

The ideal candidate holds an Associate’s degree in law enforcement or criminal justice, or an equivalent combination of education and 3 years of security experience. A valid state driver’s license and MOAB training are required or to be completed within specified timelines.

• High School Diploma, GED or related vocational training plus 3 years of experience as a security officer, law enforcement, or military may be considered in lieu of an Associates degree.
• 1 year of experience with knowledge of private security functions obtained through education or work experience such as military, public safety or fire department is required.

Responsibilities

• Patrol assigned areas to ensure safety at HSHS facilities.
• Maintain security of patients, staff and visitors and respond to incidents as needed.

Job description

Pay Range: $19.00 - $27.55

A successful candidate's actual pay rate will be based on several factors including relevant experience, skills, training, certifications and education.

Patient visitor and colleagues safety is of utmost importance at HSHS. Security Officers ensure the well-being of both people and property by patrolling assigned areas and ensuring safety at HSHS facilities.

Education

• Associates degree in law enforcement, criminal justice or related field is required.
• High School Diploma, GED or related vocational training plus 3 years of experience as a security officer, law enforcement, or military may be considered in lieu of an Associates degree.

Experience

• 1 year of experience with knowledge of private security functions obtained through education or work experience such as military, public safety or fire department is required.

Certificates, Licenses and Registrations

• Valid state driver’s license is required.
• MOAB (Management of Aggressive Behavior) training/certification is required at hire or within 90-days of date of hire.
• Successfully complete the Oleoresin Capsicum (OC) Certification within the first 90 days of employment is preferred.
