Job summary

MercyOne Genesis is seeking a Security Officer to provide a visible security presence across the hospital campus and safeguard patients, staff, visitors, and assets. This role supports a mission of safe, compassionate care in a busy medical environment.

Required are a valid driver’s license, Basic Life Support (BLS) and CPI within 60 days; law enforcement or criminal justice coursework is preferred. A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide a visible security presence to prevent and detect conditions that could jeopardize safety.

• Interact with a variety of people in potentially stressful situations and use de-escalation techniques.
• Respond to incidents and coordinate with hospital leadership and local authorities as needed.

As a Security Officer at MercyOne, you will provide a physical presence for the purpose of prevention and/or detection of adverse conditions which would place the safety and security of the hospital environment at risk while protecting welfare of patients, visitors, staff and facility assets.

Interaction is with a variety of people inside or outside the organization. Communications are often difficult or stressful in nature. Contact with others involves complex, detailed and often sensitive topics. The job requires a high degree of interpersonal skills to deal with a range of complicated problem situations. Interactions involve gaining the agreement of others.

Schedule:

• Full time .8 (32 hours per week)
• Night Shift

General Requirements:

• Valid Driver’s License
• Basic Life Support and CPI within 60 days
• Law enforcement or criminal justice coursework preferred

Education:

• High School diploma or equivalent

Pay Range: $18.25 - $27.37

Actual compensation will fall within the range but may vary based on factors such as experience, qualifications, education, location, licensure, certification requirements and comparisons to colleagues in similar roles.
