Job summary

Housing Authority of New Orleans seeks a Security Officer to protect HAN0 community properties, residents, staff, and visitors. The role reports to the HANOPD Lieutenant - Administration and Lead Security Officer and requires vigilance across multiple sites in New Orleans, LA.

Responsibilities include patrolling, enforcing access, investigating incidents, producing reports, and assisting residents and staff as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• At least two years of leadership experience in security.
• Valid driver license and eligibility to operate HANO fleet vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Patrol HAN0 properties and surrounding areas by vehicle, bike, or on foot to deter, locate and apprehend those committing crimes.
• Reprimand, detain, cite and/or arrest individuals; transport to facilities or book into jail; perform security patrols.
• Enforce proper site access/entry procedures.
• Protect property from theft and incidents.
• Investigate, write reports and report accidents, hazards and other security-related situations to supervisors.

SUMMARY

This position reports directly to the HANOPD Lieutenant - Administration and Lead Security Officer. This position is responsible for ensuring the protection, safety, and security of HANO community residential properties, including site grounds, residents, staff, and all visitors.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Patrols Authority property and surrounding areas as assigned by vehicle, bicycle, or on foot to deter, locate and apprehend persons committing crimes or unlawful activities.
• Reprimands, detains, cites, and/or arrests members of the public, transports to medical facilities or books into jail. Performs security patrols and/or monitors activity by foot or by golf cart.
• Enforces proper site access/entry procedures.
• Protects property from theft and accidents.
• Investigates, writes reports, and reports accidents, incidents, suspicious activities, safety and fire hazards and other security related situations that occur at the residential site to supervisors and property authorities.
• Provides any assistance needed to residents, employees and visitors following the residential site procedures.
• Performs other related duties as assigned

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Working knowledge of security operations, safety practices and enforcement procedures in a residential environment. A minimum of two years' experience in a leadership role within the security field. Must have a valid driver's license and must meet the requirements to be an authorized driver of HANO's vehicle fleet.
