Job summary

Covenant Health System is hiring for multiple Security Officer openings in Lubbock, Texas. This onsite role requires patrolling hospital campuses, deterring crime, and assisting patients and staff.

After training, officers will carry handcuffs and a non-lethal device as needed, with duties including detailed reporting and handling disruptive individuals in accordance with state law. Applicants should have 1 year of security, law enforcement, military, or police experience, ideally in healthcare.

Qualifications

• 1 year of security, law enforcement, military or police experience, preferably in hospital or campus settings.
• Must be able to drive; provide valid driver's license and auto insurance if requested.
• Texas Non-Commissioned Security Officer certification within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Patrol assigned areas of the CHS campus to deter and investigate crime and suspicious activity.
• Assist patients, employees and visitors; provide information and directions as needed.
• Write detailed incident and other required reports; manage disruptive individuals when necessary.
• Carry department issued handcuffs and non-lethal device on duty.

***Please note that this position is onsite and therefore requires the ability to commute to Covenant Health hospitals/facilities in Lubbock, TX.***

Under general supervision, patrols assigned areas of the CHS campus to deter, detect and investigate crime and/or any suspicious activity, which could cause harm to individuals or property. Provides information and assistance to patients, employees and visitors. Writes detailed incident reports, and various other reports as required. Takes and maintain control of disruptive individuals for arrest by Lubbock Police Department, when situations warrant this action. Primary emphasis is placed on the safety of the individual and loss prevention. After completion of classroom and practical instructions, will at all times while on duty carry Department issued handcuffs and non-lethal device.

Required Qualifications:

• Texas Non-Commissioned Security Officer - Texas Private Security Board - Texas Department of Public Safetywithin 30 days of hire
• 1 yearof Security, Law Enforcement, Military, or Police experience, preferably within a hospital or campus environment
• Upon request: Driving may be necessary as part of this role. Caregivers are required to comply with all state laws and requirements for driving. Caregivers will be expected to provide proof of driver license and auto insurance upon request.
