Job summary

Littleton Regional Healthcare in Littleton, NH is seeking a Security Officer for full-time coverage across day, night, and weekend shifts. You will perform patrols, monitor campus safety, and respond to alarms and incidents in accordance with hospital policy.

The role requires prior law enforcement or security experience, certifications (MOAB, Taser, Handcuff, OC Gel, Defensive Tactics), and the ability to assess risk, document events, and coordinate with the Security Manager and public safety

Qualifications

  • Preferred Experience/Specialized Skills – Two (2) years as a police officer, correctional officer, security officer or active military service with honorable discharge or any combination thereof.
  • Required Training: MOAB trained & certified, Taser trained & certified, Handcuff trained & certified, OC Gel trained & certified, and Defensive tactics certified

Salary Range: $19.18 To $25.31 Hourly

Per diem positions at Littleton Regional Healthcare are eligible for a per diem incentive, which is determined by the level of commitment you select. This means the more shifts you commit to in advance, the greater the financial incentive you may receive. It's a flexible option that rewards consistency and supports work-life balance while providing supplemental income.
SUMMARY AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Works flexible hours and shifts with no set schedule, including nights and weekends.
  • Works on an as needed basis covering vacations, holidays, and one on one coverage.
  • Works independently performing solo patrols and safety inspections for the security and safety of the LRH campus.
  • Investigates all matters of suspicious activity, and prepares both shift log and incident reports of investigations for presentation to the security manager.
  • Monitors movements and behavior of potentially dangerous patients or visitors.
  • Responds to and controls high risk situations involving out-of-control behaviors and psychiatric emergencies including the potential for injury to self and/or others.
  • Assists the public in locating various departments on campus and provides general information to patients, employees, and visitors.
  • Periodically inspects buildings, grounds and parking lots in and around the property, checks mechanical equipment, reports discrepancies to a supervisor.
  • Responds to 911 calls from on-campus, general alarms, hospital emergency color codes, panic, fire, and mechanical alarms to determine the nature of the problem and report per established protocol.
  • All LRH Security team staff are expected to uphold the department motto: Protection with Care.
  • All LRH Security team members are expected to perform all other duties as assigned
  • Expected to understand business/trades vocabulary and basic arithmetic to perform standard job requirements.
  • Expected to make recommendations for the development of alternative short-term or long term program policies or procedures.
  • Requires performing regular job assignments in an adverse working environment involving a variety of unpredictable elements or hazards including exposure to injuries or hazardous materials which may result in partial disability.
  • Requires summarizing data, preparing reports, and making recommendations based on findings which contribute to solving problems and achieving work objectives.
  • Requires resourcefulness of training and experience to establish facts or to solve practical problems.
  • Knowledge of procedures for vehicle, individual and building searches as required.
  • Knowledge of procedures for responding to bomb threats and the use of force, as required.
  • Knowledge in the use of security surveillance systems and cameras.
  • Ability to understand and apply policies and procedure(s)
  • Ability to perform radio communications, professional telephone etiquette and monitor alarms
  • Knowledge of established policies and procedures regarding damaged property, theft and fire.
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions, take orders and accept supervision.
  • Ability to use sound judgment when using force to control individuals or groups.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, patients, law enforcement agencies, and the general public.
  • Ability to exercise tact, diplomacy and impartiality in relation to others.
  • MUST maintain certification(s) for security officer weapons/weapons systems through training, instruction, and re-certification.
  • Must be willing to maintain appearance appropriate as determined by LRH policy and security manager.
  • All duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Requires medium work, including continuous strenuous activities such as frequent reaching, standing, cardio vascular fitness necessary for physical conflict as well as walking, ascending & descending stairs
  • Requires bending or lifting, as well as performing work activities which require fine manual dexterity.
  • Required to maintain physical tactics certifications.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Indoors & outdoors; exposure to heat, cold, rain, potentially dangerous environments and limited exposure to loud noise.
