Job summary

Responsibilities

Generous Shift Differentials of $7/ hour for Nights

Responsible for the safety and well-being of patients, visitors, staff, facilities and hospital property

Responsibilities

1. Patrols all areas of their assigned facility looking for illegal/inappropriate activity and security/safety concerns. Proactively provides information, assistance and guidance to patients, visitors, and staff.
2. Conducts internal and external rounds/patrols to ensure the safety and security of the facility, property, and occupants.
3. Responds to, and investigates security incidents. Ensures all incidents and activities are appropriately documented and recorded.
4. Assists nursing units, clinical care areas, and other departments with uncooperative, combative or violent patients and visitors. Effectively de-escalates situations and uses the appropriate AVADE techniques.
5. Provides patient watch activities to mitigate injury to self/others.
6. At the direction of the medical staff, applies restraints. Contacts local law enforcement as situation warrants.
7. Deals with custody disputes and/or domestic disturbances occurring on campus.
8. Conducts patient and visitor searches when required and conducts room and belonging searching as needed.
9. Responds to emergencies and code calls. Performs CPR, to include the use of AED’s. For medical incidents outside the building, contacts the local fire department for ambulance response.
10. Monitors all parking lots for compliance with facility parking regulations. Tickets unauthorized parked cars. Observe and follow up on safety hazards in parking areas. Provide vehicle assistance services.
11. Enforces company policies as directed by a supervisor.
12. Assists with parking space and utilization. Rearranges parking barricades to meet organizational needs and special events. Assists parking officers with parking control and assistance.
13. Assists with helicopter arrivals and departures. Releases deceased patients and accepts incoming deceased patients.
14. Completes all required/requested forms, reports and documents.
15. Completes assigned secondary duties
16. Responds to duress alarms, calls for service, and other emergency situations.
17. Performs other duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications

• Two years of related experience preferred.
• Direct security experience highly preferred.

Required Licensure/Certifications

– Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record required in accordance with D-H’s Driver Disqualifications Guidelines. – Must maintain relevant certifications required. – Must complete all required training and pass minimal physical requirements within 90 days from date of hire and as required thereafter. – Must obtain IAHSS Basic Security Officer Certification within 6 months of hire.
