Job summary

Texas Health Resources in Denton, TX is seeking a Security Officer to patrol clinics and buildings, control access, and deter threats after hours. You will escort staff, identify unauthorized persons, and uphold police policies while coordinating with local authorities as needed.

Qualifications

• High School diploma required; related associate degree preferred.
• 2 years of security, law enforcement, or military police preferred.
• 2 years of healthcare or education preferred.
• Possession of listed licenses and certifications required or preferred.
• Ability to defend and restrain, and complete a psychological evaluation.

Responsibilities

• Patrol buildings and clinics for unlocked areas after hours.
• Lock and open doors according to schedules; provide escorts.
• Identify and remove unauthorized individuals from property.
• Maintain compliance with Texas Health Police policies.
• Pursue and detain individuals involved in criminal activity.
• Complete incident reports and compose narratives; report to Threat Management.
• Provide security for mobile health teams at events; conduct staff safety training.
• Conduct risk assessments and monitor building openings/closings.
• Test duress alarms and lockdown systems; provide onsite presence as needed.
• Perform weapon screening and respond to emergencies with de-escalation.

Education

• High School Diploma or Equivalent Required And
• Associate's Degree Business Administration, Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, Security or closely related field Preferred.

Experience

• 2 Years of security, law enforcement, or military police Preferred and
• 2 Years of healthcare or education Preferred.

Licenses and Certifications

• DL - Drivers License Class C and insurable Upon Hire Req And
• ACPI - Advanced Crisis Prevention Intervention Training maintained annually 30 Days Req And
• NCSO - Non-Commissioned Security Officer Texas Private Security Level 2 (not required if have Level 3) 120 Days Req And
• CSO - Commissioned Security Officer Texas Private Security Level 3 (2 attempts permitted). Biannual recertification. 120 Days Req And
• TASER Certification Complete Course & Certification (2 attempts permitted). Annual recertification. 120 Days Req

What You Will Do

Patrol buildings and clinics for unlocked secured areas for after-hour entry.

• Locks and opens doors according to schedules.
• Provides individual and group escorts to and from parking areas.
• Identifies and removes unauthorized individuals from property.
• Maintains compliance with Texas Health Police policies.
• Pursues and detains persons involved in criminal activity.
• Fills out incident/offense report forms and composes narratives.
• Interacts with police, fire personnel, patients, visitors, and staff.
• Provides security for mobile health teams during community events.
• Conducts safety and security training for staff.
• Conducts building risk assessments.
• Randomly monitors building openings and closings to ensure safety protocols are being adhered to.
• Performs monthly tests of building duress alarms and lockdown systems.
• Provides onsite uniformed presence, as needed, for buildings experiencing imminent threats.
• Conducts random weapon screening.

Completes reports by recording observations, information, occurrences and surveillance activities. Reports and escalates situations to the Threat Management team as appropriate.

Provides quality customer service to Texas Health employees, visitors, and guest.

• Greets people with courtesy and respect using the 10/5 rule.
• Provides directions and assistance employees, visitors and guests.
• Provide general information regarding Texas Health campuses.
• Provides transport/and escorts to and from campus parking lots.

Responds timely to calls for service and emergency situations.

• Assesses the situation and utilizes appropriate de-escalation measures.
• Utilizes critical thinking skills and provides the appropriate level of force for the situation.
• Responds to and activates the appropriate emergency response code.
• Interacts with and provides assistance to Police, Fire, EMS and other emergency staff as required.
