Job summary

Thompson Health is seeking a professional Security Guard to patrol Thompson Health Corporation facilities, ensuring internal and external safety. You will assist residents and staff with security concerns and perform fire watch duties, responding promptly to incidents.

Responsibilities include coordinating with public officials and hospital administration during emergencies, and performing routine maintenance on security systems and equipment.

Qualifications

• Required: High School Degree or GED.
• Required: current New York State Driver’s License.
• Required: NYS Security Guard License or Police/Peace Officer exemption.
• Preferred: Hospital environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide internal and external security patrols at Thompson Health facilities using patrol vehicles.
• Assist residents and staff with security and safety concerns.
• Provide fire watch and security services; respond to incidents and take appropriate action.
• Work with public officials and administrations to investigate and mitigate emergencies.
• Perform routine maintenance of security systems and equipment.

Job description

Main Function:

• Uses Security Guard Patrol Vehicle to travel to designated Thompson Health Corporation Facilities and then provide continual internal and external security and safety patrols of each of those facilities.
• Assist residents and Associate Staff with security and safety Concerns.
• Responsible for providing a fire watch and security service to each of the pre-designated Thompson Health Facilities. Respond to incidents and take appropriate action.
• Work with public officials and Administrations to investigate and mitigate emergencies.
• Performs routine maintenance of Security Systems and equipment.

Job Specific Competencies:

• Possess knowledge of basic Security Guard responsibilities and related maintenance procedures.
• Exhibits a command presence.
• Demonstrates the ability to work independently and exhibit flexibility and sound judgment in decision making and prioritizing of assignments.
• Demonstrates the ability to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with Administration, fire and police personnel.
• Exhibits leadership skills through life experience as well as continual training courses geared towards hospital and health care safety and security.
• Actively guard the confidentiality of sensitive information including but not limited to the patients, staff and the health system.

Education and experience:

• Required - High School Degree or G.E.D. equivalent.
• Required – current New York State Driver’s License.
• Required – current New York State Security Guard License or Police/Peace Officer exemption.
• Preferred Hospital Environment.

Pay Range: $18.00 - $22.00

Starting Pay: Based on Experience
