Job description

Important Notice Regarding Work Location:
The initial work location for this position will be at our facility in Peekskill, NY. Please note that our operations are scheduled to relocate to Middletown, NY in early 2026. Candidates must be willing and able to work in Fort Montgomery for approximately 6-8 months following their start date, and transition to the Middletown location once the move is complete.

Job Summary:

The Security Manager is responsible for overseeing the security operations of a single facility, ensuring the safety and security of all company assets, personnel, and visitors. This role includes enforcing security protocols, managing security personnel, and ensuring the facility is protected against theft, vandalism, and any potential threats. The Security Manager will work closely with the Regional General Manager and ensure compliance with both company policies and local/state security regulations.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the day-to-day security operations for the facility, including scheduling and performance evaluations for security personnel.
  • Manage and mentor a team of security officers and surveillance staff to ensure adherence to all safety protocols.
  • Develop and implement training programs for security personnel, including new security officer training.
  • Conduct performance evaluations for all security personnel, ensuring effective and consistent operations.
  • Ensure adequate staffing coverage for all shifts to maintain continuous security presence.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Enforce security protocols and ensure the facility's security team follows the company's Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Develop, implement, and maintain a physical security plan for the facility.
  • Monitor and maintain surveillance systems (CCTV, access control) to ensure operational functionality.
  • Conduct routine facility inspections and risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities and recommend improvements.
  • Serve as the primary contact for any security incidents or emergency situations, coordinating with local law enforcement as needed.
  • Develop and implement emergency response plans and conduct emergency drills with the security team.
  • Regularly report security updates and incidents to the Regional General Manager and National Security Director.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team of security personnel.
  • In-depth knowledge of security systems, including CCTV, access control, and alarm systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities, especially in high-pressure situations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with law enforcement and regulatory agencies.
  • Proficiency in managing and organizing security audits and risk assessments.

Certifications & Licensing (Required):

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
  • Valid New York State Armed Security Guard Registration
  • Valid NYS Pistol License (per Penal Law 400.00)
  • 47-Hour Firearms Training Certificate
  • 8-Hour Pre-Assignment Training Course
  • 16-Hour On-The-Job Training Course (if applicable for new licensees)
  • 8-Hour Annual In-Service Training (must be completed each calendar year)
  • 8-Hour Annual Firearms Training (required annually by the officer)
  • De-escalation training and conflict resolution experience preferred

All licenses and certifications must be current and maintained by the employee in accordance with NYS Division of Licensing Services. Management is responsible for monitoring expiration timelines and supporting employee compliance but does not sponsor or manage licensing directly.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 3+ years of experience in armed security, preferably in a high-security environment (e.g., cannabis, law enforcement, or military).
  • 2+ years of managerial or supervisory experience.
  • Experience with developing and maintaining security protocols and emergency response plans.
  • Experience in scheduling and managing a security team for multiple shifts.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand or walk for extended periods.
  • Must be able to handle up to 50 lbs.
  • Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and respond to emergency situations as needed.

Scheduled/Availability:

  • Monday - Friday: 8-hour shifts (9:00 AM - 5:00 PM).
  • Weekend/On-Call Availability: Must be on-call for emergencies or security incidents on weekends.
