Job description

As the Security Manager, you will lead security operations and compliance for a mission-focused intelligence program in McLean, Virginia and Bethesda, Maryland. You will oversee the program’s personnel, physical, information, and operational security functions while ensuring strict compliance with applicable government security requirements and customer directives. This position serves as a key security leader and advisor to program management, government stakeholders, and personnel supporting sensitive intelligence activities. The ideal candidate brings strong knowledge of classified environments, security procedures, risk management, and federal security requirements, combined with the leadership skills necessary to manage day-to-day security operations in a government facility.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Lead and manage security operations supporting a classified intelligence program and government customer.
  • Confirm all appropriate requirements are completed in a manner that is accurate, efficient and on time.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive security policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Oversee personnel security activities, including security clearance requirements, access eligibility, indoctrination, briefings, debriefings, reporting responsibilities, and security education.
  • Manage physical security requirements for classified workspaces, controlled areas, secure facilities, and sensitive program activities.
  • Oversee the protection, handling, storage, transmission, and disposition of classified and sensitive information and materials.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal security requirements, customer policies, security directives, and program-specific procedures.
  • Serve as the primary security point of contact for program leadership, government security representatives, facility personnel, and other stakeholders.
  • Conduct security assessments, reviews, inspections, and risk analyses; identify vulnerabilities and implement appropriate mitigation measures.
  • Manage security incidents, violations, and investigations in accordance with applicable reporting requirements and established procedures.
  • Maintain accurate security records, documentation, access rosters, training records, and compliance documentation.
  • Coordinate security briefings, training, awareness programs, and recurring security education for program personnel.
  • Support security audits, inspections, assessments, and government reviews, including preparation of required documentation and corrective-action plans.
  • Develop and maintain security continuity and contingency procedures to protect mission operations.
  • Monitor changes to applicable security policies and requirements and translate them into actionable program procedures.
  • Lead and mentor security personnel while establishing clear priorities, performance expectations, and accountability.
  • Partner with program, facilities, information technology, human resources, and government stakeholders to resolve security-related issues.
  • Promote a strong security culture while balancing mission requirements, operational effectiveness, and protection of sensitive information.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience. 5+ years of experience in security management, security operations, personnel security, physical security, classified program security, or a related field.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

Demonstrated experience managing security operations within a government, intelligence, defense, or other highly regulated environment. Strong knowledge of classified information protection, personnel security, physical security, and security compliance practices. Experience interpreting and implementing government security requirements and customer-specific security procedures. Experience leading security teams, programs, or functions with multiple stakeholders and competing operational priorities. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate security requirements to both technical and non-technical audiences. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, particularly when managing sensitive documentation and compliance requirements.

PREFERRED QUALIFIFICATIONS:

Experience supporting the Intelligence Community or other federal national-security programs. Experience working directly with government security officials and customer representatives. Familiarity with applicable Intelligence Community and Department of Defense security policies and procedures. Experience preparing for and supporting government security inspections, audits, and assessments. Professional security certification such as Industrial Security Professional (ISP), Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Physical Security Professional (PSP), or related credential. Experience managing security programs in Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIFs) or other controlled-access environments. Experience with security risk assessments, incident response, vulnerability mitigation, and continuous compliance monitoring.
