Job summary

Anthropic is seeking a highly capable security-focused software engineer to join Security Labs in San Francisco. You will own end-to-end security research projects, from scoping and prototyping to testing with real workloads and handing off to production or concluding with a writeup of lessons learned.

The role emphasizes deep expertise in one or more core security domains, ability to operate across layers, and a track record of independent delivery.

Qualifications

• Deep software engineering experience with security focus.
• At least one core area such as firmware/hardware security, applied cryptography, OS/kernel/hypervisor internals, formal methods, reverse engineering, or high-assurance / cross-domain systems.
• Proven track record of building and shipping projects independently.
• Ability to jump between layers and domains when solving problems.

Responsibilities

• Own Security Labs projects end to end: scope the bet, prototype, test with real workloads, and hand off or exit.
• Stand up novel security infrastructure fast (isolated clusters, attestation chains, hypervisor/runtime work, verification tooling).
• Find the receiving team early and hand them something they actually want to own.
• Work embedded with research and infrastructure teams to validate workflows and document gaps.
• Turn experimental results into short writeups shaping Anthropic's long-term security architecture.
• Help pick the next round of bets and influence the industry.
