Job summary

Meta is seeking a Security Engineer to join the Applied Artificial Intelligence (AAI) organization in Menlo Park. You will blend hands-on security engineering with applied research to design and implement AI-powered security capabilities, defenses, and scalable AI-native systems.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in CS, Cybersecurity, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of hands-on security engineering experience in one or more domains (e.g., detection engineering, threat intelligence, incident response, cloud security, adversarial simulation, offensive security, mobile/platform security, or digital forensics).
• Extensive knowledge of attacker tactics, techniques, and procedures.
• Proficiency in coding with Python, Go, C/C++, or shell scripting.
• Experience building security systems, tools, or capabilities—engineering solutions, not just identifying problems.
• Demonstrated ability to operate independently on complex, ambiguous security challenges.
• Experience with forensic investigation—reconstructing attack timelines from evidence.
• Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize workflows and drive measurable impact.
• Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration).
• Experience planning and executing adversary simulation campaigns or purple team exercises at scale.

Responsibilities

• Apply deep security expertise to build novel security capabilities and AI-powered defenses.
• Prototype AI-driven security solutions and translate security expertise into scalable AI-native systems.
• Develop detection and response capabilities across cloud, mobile, and on‑premise environments.
• Collaborate with research and security teams to advance AI security practices and incident readiness.
