Job summary

Harris County Sheriff's Office in Houston is seeking a part-time, temporary deputy to support the SMAG unit at the Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston facility. The role focuses on security monitoring, data collection from video feeds, and intelligence dissemination, with supervision by the SMAG Sergeant.

Candidates must be honorably retired Peace Officers, have at least 15 years in law enforcement, hold a TCOLE Peace Officer License, and be able to obtain a secret clearance.

Qualifications

• Must be an honorably retired Peace Officer.
• A minimum of fifteen (15) years of experience in law enforcement, record management, or a related field.
• Must have an active TCOLE Peace Officer License.
• Basic Peace Officer License (minimum).
• Basic understanding of electronics, digital audio/video equipment.
• Must protect sensitive/confidential information.
• Must have an excellent attendance record.
• Knowledge of the Texas Penal Code and Code of Criminal Procedures.
• Basic understanding of computers, electronics, and digital audio/video equipment.
• Demonstrated proficiency with Superion/ARS, JWEB, JOTS, and related reports.

Responsibilities

• Views, records, and gathers information from video feeds across landside and waterside areas.
• Compiles and disseminates intelligence to HCSO, other agencies, and the military.
• Assists with intelligence requests.
• Maintains equipment assigned to the SMAG unit.
• Completes and enters reports.
• Performs other duties as required.
• Communicates with multiple agencies and jurisdictions.
