Job summary

Johnson Controls is hiring a Commercial Installer to work onsite with our commercial customers to set up and program Integrated Security fire and security systems. The role includes dismantling and reconstructing equipment when necessary.

Responsibilities include following schematic wiring diagrams, coordinating with agencies, preparing estimates, and mentoring junior installers while maintaining safety and quality on projects of varying scales.

Qualifications

  • Able to obtain and retain licenses required by National, State and Local codes.
  • Technical school training is a plus.
  • 3-5 years of electrical and electronic equipment experience with mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specs and manuals.
  • Ability to operate hand and power tools.
  • Ability to operate a fleet vehicle safely.
  • Ability to communicate and provide excellent customer service.

  • Coordinate installations with authorities and notify emergency contacts.
  • Prepare estimates per supervisor instructions.
  • Read and follow wiring diagrams and hookup procedures.
  • Test system operation and report to the receiving center.
  • Mentor less experienced installers on larger projects.

What you will do

As a critical part of the team, the Commercial Installer works onsite with our commercial customers to set up and program their Integrated Security fire and security systems. The Commercial Installer also dismantles and reconstructs equipment when necessary.

How you will do it

  • Installs appropriate devices; dismantles and reconstructs equipment as required by customer or Tyco Integrated Security.
  • Works safely and responsibly to avoid injuries, damage to property, loss of unused materials and cleans up installation debris.
  • Contacts customers prior to the date of scheduled installation to verify schedule.
  • Prepares estimates in accordance with prescribed instructions or directions of supervisor.
  • Follow proper schematic wiring diagrams and hook-up procedures.
  • Tests operation of system to the signal-receiving center to properly establish service.
  • Reads building, electrical and sprinkler blueprints as required.
  • Coordinates installations with police/fire departments and handles necessary records for notification of emergency calls.
  • May manage installation teams on larger projects.
  • Coach and mentor less experienced installers.

What we look for

Required

  • Able to obtain and obtain and retain any licenses that are required by National, State and Local codes.

  • Experience in reading and interpreting blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, programs schematics and operational/product manuals.

  • Ability to operate fleet vehicle in a safe manner at all times.
  • Ability to communicate and provide excellent customer service.

*This is a Bargaining Unit Position.
Pay Range: $28-$33 hourly rate determined by the CBA/rate sheet. Benefits are provided
through a local labor union aligned with a collective bargaining agreement. The posted salary
range reflects the target compensation for this role. However, we recognize that exceptional
candidates may bring unique skills and experiences that exceed the typical profile.
