Job summary

Johnson Controls in Houston, TX seeks a Commercial Installer to set up and program Integrated Security fire and security systems on site for commercial customers. Dismantling and reconstructing equipment when needed is included in the role.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years of security experience with strong mechanical aptitude, must read blueprints, and operate hand and power tools. Gentec and Software House experience are a plus; Texas FA License is preferred.

Qualifications

• 5+ years security experience with mechanical aptitude in an industrial environment.
• Gentec experience.
• Ability to read blueprints and schematic drawings.
• Ability to operate hand and power tools.
• Ability to operate a fleet vehicle safely.
• Ability to communicate and provide excellent customer service.
• Preferred: Software House experience.
• Preferred: Texas FA License.

Responsibilities

• Installs devices and dismantles/reconstructs equipment as required by the customer or Tyco Integrated Security.
• Works safely and responsibly to avoid injuries and damages; cleans installation debris.
• Contacts customers prior to the installation date to verify schedule.
• Prepares estimates per supervisor instructions.
• Follows wiring diagrams and hookup procedures.
• Tests system operation with the signal-receiving center.
• Reads building, electrical and sprinkler blueprints as required.
• Coordinates installations with police/fire departments and handles emergency notifications.
• May manage installation teams on larger projects.
• Coaches and mentors less experienced installers.

What you will do

As a critical part of the team, the Commercial Installer works onsite with our commercial customers to set up and program their Integrated Security fire and security systems. The Commercial Installer also dismantles and reconstructs equipment when necessary.

How you will do it

• Installs appropriate devices; dismantles and reconstructs equipment as required by customer or Tyco Integrated Security.
• Works safely and responsibly to avoid injuries, damage to property, loss of unused materials and cleans up installation debris.
• Contacts customers prior to the date of scheduled installation to verify schedule.
• Prepares estimates in accordance with prescribed instructions or directions of supervisor.
• Follow proper schematic wiring diagrams and hook‑up procedures.
• Tests operation of system to the signal‑receiving center to properly establish service.
• Reads building, electrical and sprinkler blueprints as required.
• Coordinates installations with police/fire departments and handles necessary records for notification of emergency calls.
• May manage installation teams on larger projects.
• Coach and mentor less experienced installers.

What we look for

Required

• 5+ years Security experience with demonstrated mechanical aptitude in an Industrial environment.
• Gentec experience
• Ability to read blueprints and schematic drawings.
• Ability to operate hand and power tools.
• Ability to operate fleet vehicle in a safe manner at all times.
• Ability to communicate and provide excellent customer service.

Preferred

• Software House experience
• Texas FA License

Salary & Benefits

• HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $26-36 (Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
