Job summary

Convergint is seeking a full-time Security Technician to install, program, start-up, certify, and train customers on assigned projects. The role involves working on small to large projects with varying complexity, and contributing to a culture that values excellence and growth.

The ideal candidate has strong customer focus, solid technical skills in fire alarm and electronic security, and the ability to read blueprints. A valid driver's license and willingness to travel locally are required.

Qualifications

• Exceptional customer focus and ability to work under pressure.
• Solid technical skills in fire alarm systems and/or electronic security systems.
• Solid programming skills and proven ability to troubleshoot problems.
• Self-starter with ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Read blueprints and drawings; ability to read and interpret schematics.
• Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills; able to handle multiple projects.
• Advanced computer skills including MS Office suite.
• A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to travel locally to jobsites; minimal overnight travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Installs, programs, tests, repairs, and services security, fire alarm and/or building automation systems.
• Provides technical support and customer training; refers complex issues to higher levels.
• Reads blueprints, schematics, manuals to determine installation procedures.
• Operates systems to demonstrate, commission new systems, analyze performance and identify malfunctions.
• Mentors less experienced staff and may supervise testing and tuning.
