Job summary

Apple Inc. in Seattle, WA is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a team of software engineers focused on Apple Security Identity.

You will design and drive a long-term identity strategy, building and operating micro-services that handle millions of API requests daily and reporting progress to senior leadership. You will guide architecture, code reviews, and production operations while fostering security-minded, high-performing teams.

Qualifications

• 1+ years leading people or teams, with a strong interest in management as a career
• 7+ years of software development or production operations experience in a large-scale environment
• Experience writing production code in Golang or Swift
• Experience building and operating highly available, distributed, and fault-tolerant systems
• Solid understanding of operating systems concepts including multi-threading, memory management, networking and storage, performance and scale
• Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and containerization
• Working knowledge of securing APIs, including input validation, authentication, and authorization mechanisms for RESTful and gRPC APIs
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate across teams
• BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent experience

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of software engineers through regular 1:1s, feedback, goal setting, and career growth conversations
• Participate in hiring, interviewing, and onboarding of new team members
• Contribute to performance reviews and calibration, with guidance from your manager
• Plan and track team work: break down roadmap goals, prioritize, estimate, and remove blockers to keep delivery on track
• Partner with senior engineers on design and code reviews, ensuring solutions are scalable, reliable, and secure
• Support operational excellence for production services, including on-call health, incident response, and post-incident reviews
• Work with customer teams to drive adoption of minimum security requirements, and track and report progress
• Communicate status, risks, and trade-offs clearly to your manager, stakeholders, and partner teams
• Foster an inclusive, collaborative team culture with strong engineering practices
• Stay technical enough to understand team designs and trade-offs, with limited hands-on coding as the team requires
