Wilkes-Barre General Hospital is seeking a per diem Security Officer to maintain a safe environment for patients, visitors and staff. The role focuses on protecting hospital facilities and assets, with duties covering access control, patrols, and incident response.
The position values calm, professional communication and the ability to handle emergencies or stressful events. Training will be provided, with CHSO certification pursued within the first year of employment.
To provide a safe and secure atmosphere for patients, visitors and employees. Protect hospital buildings, assets and premises as assigned.
Up to one (1) year of supervised training; pertinent experience desirable. Varied in-service participation is required; continuing education is recommended. Obtain, within one (1) year, the Certified Healthcare Security Officer (CHSO) designation utilizing the International Association of Hospital Security and Safety educational book and testing. Preference for protective service, public relations aptitudes, communication skills, safety-conscious, clerical accuracy, observant, investigative, empathetic and understanding, mechanically inclined; able to control emergency, crisis, and stress situations; independent thinking/sound judgment; physically able and proficient in self-defense.
Must possess a valid Pennsylvania driver's license to operate a motor vehicle.
