Job summary

Allied Universal® in Silver Spring, MD is seeking a Part-Time Security Guard (Shelter Screening) to safeguard clients across government locations. You will screen visitors, verify credentials, monitor entry points, and communicate professionally with the public and staff.

The position offers a flexible schedule, with DayTime Sat 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM and Sun 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM, a pay rate of $22.09 per hour, and opportunities to learn the Shift-claim platform and advance within a dynamic, compliant

Qualifications

• Have at least 2 years of service in a healthcare or medical-related field.
• Have at least 5 years of security-related experience.
• A Guard Card or license is preferred.
• Access control and badge experience is preferred.
• Customer service experience is preferred.
• Must be 21 years of age or older
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to visitors, employees, and members of the public at a government location by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and emergency response activities when appropriate.
• Screen visitors, packages, bags, and other authorized items in accordance with established access-control procedures and applicable site requirements.
• Verify identification, credentials, and visitor authorizations; direct individuals to appropriate entry points or departments while maintaining professional communication.
• Monitor screening equipment and access points, report prohibited items, suspicious activity, and policy violations to appropriate personnel, and document incidents as required.
• Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, following established procedures and communicating with site contacts and emergency responders as appropriate.
