Allied Universal is hiring a Part Time Security Officer (Reception) in Chicago, IL. You will provide front-desk security, greet visitors, verify access, and monitor entry points to ensure a safe, welcoming environment.

This role offers a flexible daytime schedule including weekend shifts and an hourly pay of $24.25. As a Front Desk Officer at a retail location, you will create a professional first impression, maintain logs, and respond to security concerns.

Qualifications

• One year of security-related experience is required.
• Comfort using a computer or tablet is preferred.
• Ability to lift more than 20 pounds is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ for armed roles.
• A background check is required as a condition of employment.
• A drug screen is required as a condition of employment.
• Licensing requirements may be required by state/local laws.
• A valid driver’s license is required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to visitors, tenants, shoppers, and/or vendors by carrying out site-specific security-related procedures and emergency response activities.
• Staff the front desk or lobby area, greet and direct visitors, verify access authorization, and maintain visitor logs or issue visitor credentials.
• Monitor access points, cameras, alarms, and other security systems from a stationary post; report issues to appropriate personnel.
• Respond to incidents and requests for assistance in a calm, professional manner following escalation procedures.
• Help deter unauthorized access and maintain a welcoming retail/mall environment.

What You’ll Do

• Provide customer service to visitors, tenants, shoppers, and/or vendors by carrying out site-specific security-related procedures, policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
• Staff the front desk or lobby area, greet and direct visitors, verify access authorization, and maintain visitor logs and/or issue visitor credentials in accordance with site procedures.
• Monitor access points, cameras, alarms, and other security-related systems from a stationary post; report unusual activity, maintenance concerns, and policy violations to appropriate personnel.
• Respond to incidents, requests for assistance, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner, following established escalation procedures.
• Help to deter unauthorized access and disruptive behavior through a visible, customer-focused presence while supporting a welcoming retail and mall environment.

Minimum Requirements

• At least one year of security-related experience is required.
• Comfort using a computer or tablet is preferred.
• Ability to lift more than 20 pounds is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
