Job Description

The Access Control Coordinator/Security Guard maintains a safe and secure environment for customers and employees by patrolling and monitoring premises and personnel. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the essential duties and responsibilities listed below with or without reasonable accommodation. The requirements listed below are representative, but not all-inclusive, of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor surveillance equipment.
  • Inspect buildings, equipment, and access points.
  • Report and assist with escalation duties related to major problems impacting business or site outages.
  • Ensure all policies and procedures are maintained and followed.
  • Make decisions considering procedures, company policies, and business practices to achieve desired results.
  • Monitor property and control access.
  • Control traffic by directing drivers and enforcing parking regulations.
  • Report atypical situations to management.
  • Escalate emergencies, fire, and safety hazards.
  • Promote positive public relations by offering courteous service and responding to requests.
  • Monitor and control building's life safety and access control systems.
  • Escort guests, visitors, and contractors as required.
  • Suggest improvements to department procedures to increase efficiency and service levels.
  • Assess faults and prioritize escalation.
  • Inform violators of policies and procedures.
  • Complete reports by recording observations and activities, interviewing witnesses, and obtaining signatures.
  • Maintain organizational stability and reputation by complying with legal requirements.
  • Ensure work and projects meet deadlines.
  • May act as Shipping and Receiving Technician for freight deliveries and shipments when necessary.
  • Log freight and handle customer deliveries for pickup.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the Security Manager or reporting manager.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • High School / GED
  • At least 18 years old.
  • Minimum 3 years experience in customer service with a stable work history, demonstrating ability to work under pressure and handle unusual occurrences proactively.
  • Three or more years as an access control specialist, security officer, military, or law enforcement preferred.
  • Experience in data center operations or telecommunications, with technical understanding of data center components or network operations, and ability to assimilate technical data quickly.
  • Proficient with Windows-based applications.
