Job summary

Allied Universal, Reading, PA seeks an unarmed Security Guard Full Time to protect campus facilities and deter security incidents. You will patrol buildings, monitor access points, and assist students, staff, and visitors with professional service.

Qualifications

• Minimum six months of security-related experience.
• Comfort with using a computer or tablet is preferred.
• Customer service experience is preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years old for unarmed roles; 21+ for armed roles.
• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Background check in compliance with laws.
• Criminal history considered in accordance with law.
• Drug screen required where permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements may apply prior to employment.
• Valid driver’s license required for driving positions.

What You'll Do

• Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, visitors, and/or vendors by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
• Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, following established campus protocols and reporting procedures.
• Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of campus buildings, parking areas, walkways, and perimeter locations to help deter unauthorized activity and identify potential concerns.
• Monitor access points and observe activity throughout assigned areas, reporting suspicious behavior, maintenance concerns, and policy violations to appropriate personnel.
• Prepare clear and accurate incident reports, daily activity logs, and other required documentation in accordance with site-specific requirements.

Minimum Requirements

• Have at least 6 months of security-related experience.
• Be comfortable using a computer or tablet preferred.
• Have customer service experience preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
