Job summary

Allied Universal in New York, NY is seeking a Security Officer – Part Time Enhanced to provide dependable, flexible security coverage on campus. The role offers fixed anchor shifts with the option to pick up additional shifts through our scheduling platform, allowing you to earn more while maintaining a work‑life balance.

You will interact with students, faculty, and visitors, perform patrols, monitor access points, respond to alarms, and complete incident reports.

Qualifications

As a Security Guard Flex College Campus Patrol in New York, NY, this role is designed to provide reliable, consistent hours at an assigned site with the flexibility for you to earn more by picking‑up additional shifts when it works for you.

Pay Rate: $21.30 / Hour

Job Schedule:

DayTimeSat09:00 AM - 03:00 PM

How This Role Works:

• Fixed-Shift Commitment (“Anchor Shifts”): You will be hired for a designated site and weekly shift that serves as your reliable base schedule. This assignment requires a six (6) month commitment.


• Earn More, Claim-A-Shift Program: In addition to your fixed shift, you may pick‑up extra shifts through our scheduling platform, allowing you to increase earnings and gain experience across multiple sites. Work part‑time hours this week and full‑time the next. It’s all up to you.

This role is ideal for candidates seeking part‑time employment with flexibility, income stability, and opportunities to build‑up to a full‑time schedule of up to 40 hours per week; always with the option to scale back when needed.

Responsibilities:

• Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, visitors, and campus community members while carrying out security‑related procedures, site‑specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.


• Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem‑solving manner, following established campus protocols and reporting requirements.


• Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of campus buildings, academic areas, residence halls, parking areas, walkways, and perimeter locations to help deter unauthorized activity.


• Monitor access points and observe for unusual conditions, unauthorized entry, or maintenance concerns; communicate observations to appropriate personnel.


• Prepare clear and accurate activity reports, incident documentation, and shift communications in accordance with site‑specific procedures.

Minimum Requirements:

• Possess at least 2 years of security‑related experience.


• CPR and First Aid certification is preferred.


• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.


• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.


• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.


• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.


• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.


• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.


• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
