Allied Universal in Springfield, IL is seeking a Security Officer – Enhanced Part Time Unarmed Patrol to provide reliable security coverage at a government location. You will perform visitor assistance, patrol interiors and exteriors, and follow site procedures to deter incidents.

This role offers flexible anchor shifts with the option to pick up additional shifts, a six-month commitment, and opportunities to advance through training programs.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of security-related experience.
• State/city security license preferred.
• Background check and drug screen are required as a condition of employment.
• Driver’s license required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to visitors, employees, and contractors while carrying out security-related procedures and site policies.
• Respond to incidents, access concerns and critical situations in a calm, professional manner following reporting procedures.
• Conduct regular unarmed patrols of interior and exterior areas including entrances, parking areas and perimeter locations.
• Monitor access points and document incidents, hazards, and maintenance concerns per site procedures.
• Maintain daily activity reports and communicate information to site contacts and Allied Universal leadership.

As a Security Officer Enhanced Part Time Unarmed Patrol in Springfield, IL, this role is designed to provide reliable, consistent hours at an assigned site with the flexibility for you to earn more by picking‑up additional shifts when it works for you.

Pay Rate: $23.38 / Hour

How This Role Works:

• Fixed-Shift Commitment (“Anchor Shifts”): You will be hired for a designated site and weekly shift that serves as your reliable base schedule. This assignment requires a six (6) month commitment.
• Earn More, Claim‑A‑Shift Program: In addition to your fixed shift, you may pick‑up extra shifts through our scheduling platform, allowing you to increase earnings and gain experience across multiple sites. Work part‑time hours this week and full‑time the next. It’s all up to you.

This role is ideal for candidates seeking part‑time employment with flexibility, income stability, and opportunities to build‑up to a full‑time schedule of up to 40 hours per week; always with the option to scale back when needed.

Responsibilities:

• Provide customer service to visitors, employees, and/or contractors while carrying out security‑related procedures, site‑specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a government location.
• Respond to incidents, access concerns, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem‑solving manner, following established reporting and escalation protocols.
• Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of assigned interior and exterior areas, including building entrances, parking areas, and perimeter locations, to help deter unauthorized activity.
• Monitor access points and observe for unusual conditions, documenting incidents, hazards, and maintenance concerns in accordance with site procedures.
• Maintain accurate daily activity reports and communicate relevant information to site contacts and Allied Universal leadership.

Minimum Requirements:

• Possess at least 1 year of security‑related experience.
• A state, county, or city‑issued security license is preferred.
• Customer service experience is preferred.
• Be comfortable using a computer or tablet.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
