Job summary

Allied Universal is seeking a Security Officer – Part Time Enhanced in Chicago, IL to provide dependable, flexible security coverage at an assigned site. This role offers fixed shifts with the option to pick up additional shifts through our scheduling platform, with a base schedule for evenings and nights.

Pay rate is $20.40 per hour, with opportunities to earn more by taking extra shifts. The position requires customer service skills, vigilance, and adherence to site policies and safety

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of security-related experience.
• 18+ for unarmed roles; 21+ for armed roles.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Background check required by law.
• Drug screen required where permitted by law.
• Licensing may be required by state/local laws.
• Driver’s license required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to clients, tenants, visitors, and guests while carrying out security procedures and emergency response activities.
• Respond to incidents, disturbances, and critical situations calmly and notify appropriate personnel.
• Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of the property, entrances, spaces, parking areas, and perimeter.
• Monitor access points and report unusual conditions or concerns.
• Document incidents and daily activities per site procedures.

How This Role Works

• Fixed-Shift Commitment ("Anchor Shifts"): You will be hired for a designated site and weekly shift that serves as your reliable base schedule. This assignment requires a six (6) month commitment.


• Earn More, Claim-A-Shift Program: In addition to your fixed shift, you may pick‑up extra shifts through our scheduling platform, allowing you to increase earnings and gain experience across multiple sites. Work part‑time hours this week and full‑time the next. It’s all up to you.

This role is ideal for candidates seeking part‑time employment with flexibility, income stability, and opportunities to build‑up to a full‑time schedule of up to 40 hours per week; always with the option to scale back when needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to clients, tenants, visitors, and guests while carrying out security‑related procedures, site‑specific policies, and emergency response activities as appropriate.


• Respond to incidents, disturbances, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem‑solving manner and notify appropriate personnel as needed.


• Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols throughout commercial property areas, entrances, common spaces, parking areas, and the surrounding perimeter.


• Monitor access points and observe site activity to help deter unauthorized entry and report unusual conditions or concerns.


• Document incidents, observations, and daily activities in accordance with site‑specific procedures.

Minimum Requirements

• At least 1 year of security‐related experience is required.


• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.


• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.


• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.


• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.


• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.


• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.


• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
