Allied Universal in Chicago, IL is hiring a Security Guard Enhanced Part Time Route Patrol to provide reliable hours at an assigned site with the option to pick up extra shifts through our scheduling platform.

This role offers a pay rate of $22.74 per hour, a six-month anchor shift, and opportunities to grow to a full-time schedule while supporting students, faculty, staff, and contractors on campus.

Qualifications

• Minimum requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Be at least 18 years old for unarmed roles; 21+ for armed roles.
• Background check required by federal/state/local laws.
• Drug screen required where permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements may apply by state/local laws.
• Valid driver’s license required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, visitors, and contractors by following campus security procedures and policies.
• Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, professional manner.
• Conduct regular and random patrols of buildings, residences, parking facilities, walkways, and perimeter areas.
• Monitor access points and report suspicious activity or hazards to appropriate personnel.
• Prepare accurate reports and maintain clear communication with campus personnel and emergency responders.

As a Security Guard Enhanced Part Time Route Patrol in Chicago, IL, this role is designed to provide reliable, consistent hours at an assigned site with the flexibility for you to earn more by picking‑up additional shifts when it works for you.

How This Role Works

• Fixed-Shift Commitment (“Anchor Shifts”): You will be hired for a designated site and weekly shift that serves as your reliable base schedule. This assignment requires a six (6) month commitment.
• Earn More, Claim-A-Shift Program: In addition to your fixed shift, you may pick‑up extra shifts through our scheduling platform, allowing you to increase earnings and gain experience across multiple sites. Work part‑time hours this week and full‑time the next. It’s all up to you.

This role is ideal for candidates seeking part‑time employment with flexibility, income stability, and opportunities to build‑up to a full‑time schedule of up to 40 hours per week; always with the option to scale back when needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, visitors, and/or contractors by carrying out security‑related procedures, site‑specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
• Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem‑solving manner, following established campus protocols.
• Conduct regular and random patrols of academic buildings, residence areas, parking facilities, walkways, and perimeter areas to help deter unauthorized activity and identify security‑related concerns.
• Monitor access points and report suspicious activity, maintenance concerns, hazards, and/or policy violations to the appropriate personnel.
• Prepare accurate reports and maintain clear communication with campus personnel, supervisors, and emergency responders as needed.

Minimum Requirements

• A valid driver’s license is required in accordance with Allied Universal driver policy requirements.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
