Job summary

Allied Universal is seeking a part-time Security Officer Enhanced to support a utilities site in Detroit. You’ll work fixed shifts with a six‑month commitment and have the option to pick up additional shifts through our scheduling platform, increasing earnings.

Pay rate is $17.50 per hour, with a flexible schedule designed for income stability and potential progression to full-time hours. Ideal candidates are 18+ with a high school diploma, valid driver’s license, and ability to pass background

Pay Rate: $17.50 / Hour

Job Schedule:

• Wed 02:00 PM - 06:00 PM
• Sun 06:00 AM - 02:00 PM

How This Role Works:

• Fixed-Shift Commitment (“Anchor Shifts”): You will be hired for a designated site and weekly shift that serves as your reliable base schedule. This assignment requires a six (6) month commitment.
• Earn More, Claim-A-Shift Program: In addition to your fixed shift, you may pick-up extra shifts through our scheduling platform, allowing you to increase earnings and gain experience across multiple sites. Work part-time hours this week and full-time the next. It’s all up to you.

This role is ideal for candidates seeking part-time employment with flexibility, income stability, and opportunities to build-up to a full-time schedule of up to 40 hours per week; always with the option to scale back when needed.

Responsibilities:

• Provide customer service to clients by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a utilities location.
• Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, following established site protocols.
• Conduct regular and random patrols of buildings, grounds, access points, and perimeter areas, documenting observations and reporting unusual conditions.
• Monitor access to the location by verifying credentials, directing authorized visitors, and reporting unauthorized activity.
• Maintain accurate daily activity reports, incident documentation, and communication with site contacts and Allied Universal leadership.

Minimum Requirements:

• A valid driver’s license is required in accordance with Allied Universal driver policy requirements.
• Comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred.
• Customer service experience is preferred.
• Access control and badge experience is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
