Job summary

Allied Universal in Columbus, OH is seeking a Security Officer – Enhanced Part Time to provide reliable coverage at an assigned site with flexible hours and opportunities to pick up additional shifts.

This role combines customer service, access control, and incident response, with a fixed anchor shift and the option to earn more through the Earn More, Claim-A-Shift program. Pay rate is $18.50 per hour, with a Wednesday 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM schedule and a path toward a full-time schedule if desired.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license may be required.
• Customer service experience preferred.
• CPR/First Aid certification preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ for armed roles.
• Background check will be conducted.
• Drug screen required where permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements depend on state/local laws.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to clients, shoppers, and store associates by carrying out access‑control procedures and site policies.
• Monitor and control access points for associates, vendors, deliveries, and visitors per procedures.
• Verify credentials, maintain visitor logs, and communicate access concerns to site leadership.
• Respond to incidents calmly and document observations per site procedures.
• Conduct regular patrols of assigned areas to deter unauthorized access and report concerns.

As a Security Guard - Enhanced Part Time in Columbus, OH, this role is designed to provide reliable, consistent hours at an assigned site with the flexibility for you to earn more by picking‑up additional shifts when it works for you.

Pay Rate: $18.50 / Hour

Job Schedule:

• Wed 03:00 PM - 11:00 PM

How This Role Works:

• Fixed-Shift Commitment (“Anchor Shifts”): You will be hired for a designated site and weekly shift that serves as your reliable base schedule. This assignment requires a six (6) month commitment.
• Earn More, Claim-A-Shift Program: In addition to your fixed shift, you may pick‑up extra shifts through our scheduling platform, allowing you to increase earnings and gain experience across multiple sites. Work part‑time hours this week and full‑time the next. It’s all up to you.

This role is ideal for candidates seeking part‑time employment with flexibility, income stability, and opportunities to build‑up to a full‑time schedule of up to 40 hours per week; always with the option to scale back when needed.

Responsibilities:

• Provide customer service to clients, shoppers, and store associates by carrying out access‑control procedures, site‑specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
• Monitor and control access points for associates, vendors, deliveries, and authorized visitors in accordance with established procedures.
• Verify credentials, maintain visitor and vendor logs, and communicate access‑related concerns to site leadership and/or Allied Universal supervision.
• Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem‑solving manner, documenting observations and actions taken according to site procedures.
• Conduct regular and random patrols of assigned retail areas, entrances, exits, and perimeter locations to help deter unauthorized access and report security‑related concerns.

Minimum Requirements:

• A valid driver’s license is required in accordance with Allied Universal driver policy requirements.
• Customer service experience is preferred.
• CPR certification is preferred.
• Alarm panel experience is preferred.
• CPR/First Aid certification is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
