Job summary

The University Enterprises Corporation at CSUSB (UEC) is seeking a Security Guard to join the CSRI center on-site. This temporary, full-time, benefited position works 40 hours per week, typically Monday through Friday with some evenings and Saturdays.

You will monitor access, perform patrols, review security cameras, and respond to incidents under the Center Manager’s supervision. Responsibilities also include front desk duties, visitor sign-ins, data entry, record-keeping, and outreach to

Qualifications

Professional security, and/or professional clerical positions experience preferred.
Valid Guard Card required.
Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

Monitor and control access to the facility; ensure only authorized individuals enter.
Conduct security patrols inside and outside the building.
Monitor security cameras and report incidents to management.
Respond to disturbances or emergencies following protocols.
Maintain logs of security incidents and visitor check-ins.
Front desk duties: greet visitors, answer phones, direct inquiries.
Assist with records, data entry, and reporting as needed.
Provide guidance to participants and communicate program policies.

The University depends upon UEC to provide services that cannot be supported with state funds. We’re responsible for business enterprises on campus including, but not limited to, dining, bookstore, convenience store, and vending services. We also serve as the grantee for federal, state, and local funding for research and sponsored projects.

Position Summary

Temporary, Staff, Non-Exempt, Full Time, Benefited position through 6/30/2027 (Appointment may be renewed annually based upon availability of funds, availability of work and satisfactory job performance).

Salary

$19.00-$22.00 per hour.

Work Schedule

40 hours per week. Typically Monday through Friday 8:45AM to 5:15PM. Some evenings and Saturdays are required.

Typical Activities

Under minimal supervision of the Center Manager, the Security Guard will work independently to:

Security & Surveillance

Monitor and control access to the facility, ensuring only authorized individuals enter.
Conduct continuous security patrols both inside and outside the building to identify and address potential safety concerns.
Monitor security cameras to detect suspicious activity and report any incidents to management.
Respond to disturbances, emergencies, or security threats in accordance with organizational protocols.
Maintain a log of security incidents, visitor check-ins, and any unusual activity.

Clerical & Administrative Support

Assist with front desk duties, including greeting visitors, answering phones, and directing inquiries.
Maintain accurate records of visitor sign-ins, deliveries, and participant attendance.
Support staff with filing, data entry, and preparing reports as needed.
Ensure all security-related documentation is updated and properly stored.

Participant Outreach & Engagement

Provide guidance and assistance to participants as they enter the facility, fostering a supportive and welcoming environment.
Communicate program policies and expectations to participants in a professional manner.
Assist in disseminating program information, event details, and resources to clients.
Report any participant concerns or issues to case workers or appropriate staff.

Some travel to other CSRI centers as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or GED.
Experience: Professional security, and/or professional clerical positions.
Other:
- Valid Guard Card.
- Basic clerical skills, including data entry, and record-keeping. Strong customer service skills. Familiarity with surveillance camera systems and security monitoring practices. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage respectfully with diverse populations. Ability to handle stressful situations calmly and professionally.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working in a social services or reentry program setting.
Bilingual proficiency is a plus.
Knowledge of conflict resolution and de-escalation techniques.
