Job summary

South Shore Rehabilitation & Skilled Care Center in Rockland is hiring part-time Security Guards/Smoking Attendants. Shifts available are weekdays 5:30p-8:30p and weekends 9a-5p. Weekly pay is $18 an hour.

You ensure the safety and security of residents, employees, facility, grounds, and equipment while assisting residents with smoke breaks.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or its equivalent.
• Security experience required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct hourly rounds of the facility and grounds; report safety concerns.
• Inspect personal belongings during admissions and securely store contraband.
• Monitor visitors; ensure sign-in, ID checks, and inventories.
• Assist residents with smoking, including lighting materials and transportation to designated smoking areas.
• Maintain a clean, safe smoking area and document residents’ whereabouts and activities.
• Provide 1:1 supervision as needed and assist staff with room searches.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Conduct an inventory of personal belongings on all admissions and safely remove and store any contraband.
• Conduct and document, as a minimum, hourly rounds of the entire facility and its grounds, and immediately report any safety concerns to the supervisor.
• Report/document environmental concerns.
• Be present and assist, if needed, if and when a resident may be struggling to manage emotions.
• Ensure visitors sign in, show identification, and conduct an inventory search.
• Conduct frequent checks with residents deemed as risk, including physically viewing residents’ whereabouts and documentation of where they are, what they are doing, and who, if anyone, they are with.
• Assist staff with room searches.
• May be assigned to a resident on a 1:1 basis for a determined period of time, including direct supervision at all times.
• Assist residents with smoking, lighting materials, and or help with transportation to and from the designated smoking area.
• Maintain a clean designated smoking area for residents.
• Transportation of the residents to and from the designated smoking area.
• Ensuring residents maintain a safe smoking environment.
