Job summary

South Shore Rehabilitation & Skilled Care Center in Rockland, MA is hiring part-time Security Guards/Smoking Attendants to help keep residents and staff safe and to assist residents with smoke breaks. Shifts include weekdays 5:30pm-8:30pm and weekends 9am-5pm. Weekly pay is $18 an hour.

You will conduct rounds, monitor entrances, assist with 1:1 supervision as needed, search belongings, and maintain a clean smoking area while following facility policies and safety guidelines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or its equivalent.
• Security experience required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct admissions belongings inventory and safely store contraband.
• Perform hourly rounds of the facility and grounds; report safety concerns.
• Report environmental concerns.
• Assist residents who may need help managing emotions.
• Ensure visitors sign in, show ID, and conduct inventories.
• Monitor residents at risk; document whereabouts and activities.
• Assist staff with room searches.
• May supervise a resident 1:1 for a period of time.
• Assist residents with smoking, provide lighting assistance, and transport to designated smoking area.
• Maintain a clean designated smoking area and transport residents as needed.
• Ensure residents have a safe smoking environment.

You ensure the safety and security of the residents, employees, facility, grounds, and equipment while also assisting residents with smoke breaks.

Education & Experience

• High school diploma or its equivalent.
• Security experience required.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Conduct an inventory of personal belongings on all admissions and safely remove and store any contraband.
• Conduct and document, as a minimum, hourly rounds of the entire facility and its grounds, and immediately report any safety concerns to the supervisor.
• Report/document environmental concerns.
• Be present and assist, if needed, if and when a resident may be struggling to manage emotions.
• Ensure visitors sign in, show identification, and conduct an inventory search.
• Conduct frequent checks with residents deemed as risk, including physically viewing residents’ whereabouts and documentation of where they are, what they are doing, and who, if anyone, they are with.
• Assist staff with room searches.
• May be assigned to a resident on a 1:1 basis for a determined period of time, including direct supervision at all times.
• Assist residents with smoking, lighting materials, and or help with transportation to and from the designated smoking area.
• Maintain a clean designated smoking area for residents.
• Transportation of the residents to and from the designated smoking area.
• Ensuring residents maintain a safe smoking environment.
