Job summary

South Shore Rehabilitation & Skilled Care Center in Rockland is seeking a part-time Security Guard/Smoking Attendant to protect residents and property while assisting with smoke breaks.

Shifts: weekdays 5:30p-8:30p and weekends 9a-5p; weekly pay $18/hour. High school diploma and security experience required; duties include rounds, visitor control, and 1:1 support as needed.

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine hourly rounds of the facility and grounds, reporting safety concerns.
• Assist residents with smoke breaks and maintain a safe smoking area.
• Verify visitor sign-in, check ID, and perform inventory searches as needed.
• Respond to incidents and document environmental concerns for supervisor review.
• Support staff with room searches and provide 1:1 supervision when assigned.
• Ensure the safety of residents, staff, and property during shifts.

You ensure the safety and security of the residents, employees, facility, grounds, and equipment while also assisting residents with smoke breaks.

Education & Experience

• High school diploma or its equivalent.
• Security experience required.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Conduct an inventory of personal belongings on all admissions and safely remove and store any contraband.
• Conduct and document, as a minimum, hourly rounds of the entire facility and its grounds, and immediately report any safety concerns to the supervisor.
• Report/document environmental concerns.
• Be present and assist, if needed, if and when a resident may be struggling to manage emotions.
• Ensure visitors sign in, show identification, and conduct an inventory search.
• Conduct frequent checks with residents deemed as risk, including physically viewing residents’ whereabouts and documentation of where they are, what they are doing, and who, if anyone, they are with.
• Assist staff with room searches.
• May be assigned to a resident on a 1:1 basis for a determined period of time, including direct supervision at all times.
• Assist residents with smoking, lighting materials, and or help with transportation to and from the designated smoking area.
• Maintain a clean designated smoking area for residents.
• Transportation of the residents to and from the designated smoking area.
• Ensuring residents maintain a safe smoking environment.
