Mountain Gateway Community College seeks a reliable Part-Time Security Officer I to help maintain a safe campus environment at the Buena Vista location. The role requires evening coverage, professionalism, and strong observational skills to deter and respond to incidents and provide a reassuring presence for students, staff, and visitors.

Responsibilities include opening and locking facilities, routine patrols, monitoring activity, reporting security concerns, and coordinating with campus

Mountain Gateway Community College ( MGCC ) is a two-year public institution of higher education and one of 23 community colleges in Virginia. The college is supported by the Commonwealth of Virginia; the counties of Alleghany, Bath, Botetourt (northern portion) and Rockbridge; the cities of Buena Vista, Covington, and Lexington; and the town of Clifton Forge. What You’ll Do:

• Maintain the safety and security of all college buildings and grounds
• Open and lock facilities, perform routine security patrols inside and outside campus buildings

• Perform additional duties as assigned to support campus safety

Special Assignments

May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
