Job summary

The State of Iowa – Health & Human Services, CMHI in Cherokee seeks a Temporary Resident Treatment Technician – Security to join the team. This 780-hour per fiscal year position works with ward staff to provide safety and security and to mentor RTW staff under RN/Charge Nurse guidance.

Applicants will undergo a background check; preference is given to candidates with 18 months of relevant experience. CMHI provides inpatient psychiatric care and supports patient education and therapy programs.

Qualifications

• 18 months of full-time work as a nursing or therapeutic assistant in a health care facility or similar setting.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute one year of post-high school education with emphasis in nursing or behavioral sciences for one year of experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide safety and security on the wards and mentor RTW staff under RN/Charge Nurse guidance.
• Lead and guide RTW staff, respond to emergency codes, and promote a safe environment at Cherokee CMHI.
