Job summary

Verse Medical in New York is seeking a Head of Security to own our security program. This high-ownership, hands-on role will lead risk assessments, audits, incident response, and policy questions while coordinating with our MSP and across the org.

You’ll drive the security roadmap, build a compliant program (SOC 2, HITRUST), and grow the team as needed. This hybrid role requires in-office presence 4 days a week in New York.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in security or information security.
• Experience running security operations end-to-end.
• Knowledge of HIPAA, HITRUST, SOC 2 controls.
• Experience with MSP relationships and cross-functional work with engineering.
• Hands-on-keyboard approach; build the function before hiring.
• Strong communication with auditors and enterprise customers.

Responsibilities

• Own security program and advise leadership on risk posture.
• Identify gaps and execute a roadmap to close them.
• Run risk assessments, audits, access reviews, and incident response.
• Collaborate with MSP and engineering to close security gaps.
• Support portions of our compliance program including SOC 2 and HITRUST.
• Build a small security team over time, starting hands-on.
