JOB SUMMARY : The Event Security Coordinator has a key role in ensuring the safety and security of events by overseeing access control, managing credentialing processes, and coordinating security operations. This position is responsible for maintaining accurate documentation and reporting, including assisting with SAFETY Act compliance, department reporting, and security metrics. The coordinator plays a critical role in event security planning, conducting security assessments, and implementing emergency response protocols. Collaborating with internal teams, vendors, and external agencies, the coordinator ensures smooth and efficient security operations, aligned with best practices and regulatory requirements. ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Oversee and manage secure, efficient credentialing processes for events.
- Print and distribute credentials to authorized personnel per established guidelines.
- Enforce access control policies and monitor compliance during events.
- Lead the check-in process for staff, contractors, and vendors, ensuring accurate credential verification.
- Troubleshoot and resolve errors in accreditation software, minimizing disruptions.
- Collaborate with IT and security vendors to address system issues and implement upgrades.
- Assist in developing and executing event security plans, including credentialing and access control.
- Conduct audits to ensure compliance with security regulations, policies, and industry best practices.
- Support DHS SAFETY Act by documenting relevant practices, policies, and procedures.
- Provide guidance on credentialing, access control, and emergency protocols to staff, contractors, and vendors.
- Assist with post-event evaluations, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure a seamless accreditation process for special events.
- Manage inventory of credentials (badges, parking passes, wristbands) and ensure accurate tracking and distribution.
- Schedule and coordinate event security and public safety staffing to ensure adequate coverage and operational effectiveness.
- Stay updated on event security technology and recommend improvements for efficiency and safety.
- Additional responsibilities as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Class A Patrol Officer License from the Kansas City Private Officers Licensing Unit, with full understanding of its legal authority.
- Valid driver’s license.
- High school diploma or GED required; preference for post-secondary education or relevant training.
- Successful completion of a background check.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, both oral and written.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
- Willing and able to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays in support of operations.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to work extended hours.
- Must be able to walk long distances and stand for extended periods.
- Must be able to lift/carry objects weighing 50 lbs.
- Must be able to respond to emergencies and incidents on-site in a timely manner.
- Must be able to safely climb ladders and work outdoors in extreme weather conditions.
