Job summary

Chainguard is seeking a Security Engineer to support IAM, AI, and Cloud security. The role suits those with a strong IT administration or software development foundation and hands-on experience in at least one area, with the ability to grow into others.

You’ll work with the Director of Cyber Resiliency in a fast-moving environment designed for growth. You’ll learn modern security practices while contributing to how Chainguard protects cloud, AI, and identity systems across our product suite.

Qualifications

Foundation in IT administration or software development
Hands-on experience in IAM, AI/ML infrastructure, or cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, or Azure)
Comfort with scripting, automation, and troubleshooting mindset
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Ability to adapt to rapid change in a late-stage startup environment
Team-first mindset and eagerness to learn and grow into security

Responsibilities

Operate and sustain Chainguard’s technology platforms (cloud, IAM, and AI)
Help implement and maintain access controls and authentication/authorization systems
Assist in securing AI/ML pipelines and agentic workflows as they scale
Troubleshoot, automate, and maintain systems with IT or software engineering skills
Document processes and contribute to runbooks, playbooks, and internal knowledge-sharing
Adapt to shifting priorities and pick up new tools or systems as needed
Learn and apply security best practices under senior guidance, with room to specialize
