Job summary

Chainguard is seeking a Staff Product Security Engineer to drive secure-by-default development across our products. You will lead high-impact security initiatives, partner with Engineering, Product, and Security leadership, and advance AI SDLC policies, tooling, and guardrails.

You will operate hands-on, influence teams remotely, and raise security maturity through technical execution and strong collaboration. This role emphasizes AI security and scalable mitigations.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in software, product, application, or cloud security.
• Experience driving security programs from design through rollout (secure SDLC, AI SDLC, vulnerability management).
• Ability to translate security requirements into engineering workflows.
• Hands-on with containers, Kubernetes, public cloud, and security controls.

Responsibilities

• Lead cross-functional security initiatives across multiple products and teams.
• Evolve Chainguard’s secure SDLC, with emphasis on AI SDLC and AI risk management.
• Define guardrails for AI usage in engineering, including policy and automation.
• Embed security controls across the full development lifecycle (architecture to operations).
• Lead threat modeling and architecture reviews for high-impact systems.
• Own cross-functional initiatives like vulnerability reduction and automation.
• Automate vulnerability detection, triage, and remediation within CI/CD workflows.
• Champion security tooling and policy-as-code in developer workflows.
