Job summary

Jobtailor seeks a senior security engineer to design and implement logging and alerting systems to detect malicious activity across endpoints, infrastructure, networks, and cloud environments.

You will build automation to improve threat hunting and intrusion response, and use AI tools to ship scalable, production-ready services. Collaborate with multiple teams during incidents and develop threat intelligence across platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree or higher in a related field; advanced degrees welcome.
• Proven experience in digital forensics, malware analysis, incident management, host/network intrusion detection, or threat intelligence.
• Strong aptitude for leveraging AI tools to streamline development and auditing for security.
• Adaptability in learning evolving AI systems and tools.
• Proficiency in Python and/or Go; deep OS internals knowledge.

Job description

• Design, pilot, and implement logging and alerting systems to detect malicious activity across endpoints, infrastructure, networks, and cloud environments
• Build tools and devise automation strategies to improve threat hunting and intrusion response
• Investigate events generated by the alerting pipeline and triage potential incidents
• Use AI tools and high-velocity engineering workflows to design and ship scalable, secure, production-ready services
• Work with multiple Snap Inc. teams during incidents and drive response efforts
• Identify, analyze, fingerprint, and build threat intelligence on adversary tactics, techniques, and procedures spanning APTs and cybercrime

Requirements

• Proven experience in one or more of: digital forensics, malware analysis, incident management, host/network intrusion detection, or threat intelligence
• Proficiency in, or strong aptitude for, leveraging AI tools to streamline development and auditing generated output for architectural integrity, performance bottlenecks, and security risks
• Adaptability in learning and applying evolving AI systems and tools
• Strong development skills in Python and/or Go
• Advanced knowledge of operating system internals
• Core competency in two or more of: macOS, Windows, Linux, Kubernetes, Amazon Web Services, and Google Cloud Platform
• Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent years of experience in a related technical field; alternatively, a Master’s degree or PhD with the stated experience requirements
• 6+ years of post-Bachelor’s security-related experience, or Master’s degree plus 5+ years of post-graduate security-related experience, or PhD plus 2+ years of post-graduate security-related experience
• Knowledge of threat hunting and developing logic to automate threat detection and incident response
• Familiarity with cloud-based services and infrastructure, including Google Cloud, Workspace, and AWS
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with high attention to detail
• Practical experience in a BeyondCorp model
• Work record of collaborating with internal and external stakeholders at all levels of a company
