Job summary

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Alaska VA Healthcare Center in Anchorage, Alaska seeks a Security Assistant to provide administrative and communications support for police and security programs.

duties include coordinating radio/telephonic communications, monitoring alarms, and maintaining security records. Requires 1 year of specialized experience or 4-year education with transcripts; training includes VA Link/Entry Controller and 20 days OJT. 12-hour Panama schedule on-site.

Qualifications

• One year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-04.
• Education can substitute for experience with 4-year coursework; transcripts required.
• Combination of education and experience allowed beyond first 60 semester hours; transcripts required.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate radio and telephonic communications during normal and emergency operations.
• Monitor alarms and SSTV.
• Maintain security records and logs for PACS and identification system.
• Protect and maintain sensitive data in accordance with Privacy Act and VA policies.
• Complete VA Link and Entry Controller training; 20 days of OJT as entry controller.
