Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and maintain security systems and infrastructure to identify threats or issues.
  • Support the Operations Command Center by watching system performance and recommending improvements.
  • Manage access, security controls, and technology resources to protect the Court's environment.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, network, and related issues for staff with timely support.
  • Analyze anomalies, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Investigate and document security incidents and equipment issues.
  • Prepare reports on security incidents, performance, and recommendations for the IT Director.
  • Monitor surveillance systems and IP cameras for failures and security concerns.
  • Install, configure, maintain, replace, and troubleshoot security equipment including cameras and related tech.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and propose enhancements for security and efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate technical documentation, inventories, and maintenance records.
  • Ensure compliance with security policies and best practices.

Job description

Under the general direction of the Director of Information Technology, the Security Desk Information Technology Specialist I is responsible for supporting the security and operational integrity of the Circuit Court's technology infrastructure. This position monitors and evaluates the Operations Command Center's performance, assists court personnel with technical support for Microsoft Office 365 and other technology systems, and contributes to the implementation of technology and security initiatives to protect the Court's information assets.


The incumbent performs a combination of technical support, security monitoring, network troubleshooting, and systems maintenance while ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the Court's technology environment. This position may also participate in special projects and other technology initiatives as assigned.


Duties include, but are not limited to:


  • Monitor and maintain security systems and technology infrastructure to identify and respond to potential security threats or operational issues.

  • Support the Operations Command Center by monitoring system performance and recommending improvements to enhance operational effectiveness.

  • Assist in protecting the Court's technology environment by managing access permissions, security controls, and technology resources.

  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, network, and other issues for court personnel and provide timely technical support.

  • Analyze system abnormalities, identify root causes, and implement appropriate corrective actions.

  • Investigate and document technology security incidents, policy violations, and equipment issues.

  • Prepare reports regarding security incidents, technology performance, and system recommendations for the Director of Information Technology.

  • Monitor surveillance systems and IP cameras to identify equipment failures, security concerns, and operational deficiencies.

  • Install, configure, maintain, replace, and troubleshoot security equipment, including IP cameras, speaker systems, and related technology.

  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend enhancements that improve security, efficiency, and operational effectiveness.

  • Maintain accurate technical documentation, inventories, and maintenance records.

  • Ensure compliance with established technology security policies, procedures, and best practices.

  • Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned.


Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, mathematics, business or public administration, or a closely related field, plus at least one (1) year of professional experience in an information technology engineering field; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.


Eligibility to Work

Working knowledge of the requested specialty area, including, but not limited to, network and information security, telecommunications, networks, servers, hardware, connectivity, and software applications.



  • Working knowledge of standard computer operating systems.

  • Ability to analyze hardware issues and determine possible solutions.

  • Ability to apply fundamental logic while analyzing issues and present logical solutions.

  • Ability to document and maintain accurate records.

  • Ability to read and understand technical manuals and information, and apply knowledge gained to the work environment.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with internal and external customers.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other technical staff, vendors, and customers.

  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.

  • Ability to provide excellence in customer service.

  • Knowledge of Windows, TCP/IP, and a network environment.

  • Knowledge of the Windows 11 operating system.

  • Ability to run and terminate CAT6 cabling.

  • Ability to read and understand technical manuals and information, and apply knowledge gained to the work environment.
