Job summary

Harvard Protection Services is seeking a Security Officer for a Manhattan site, working Monday through Friday from 11am to 7pm. The role focuses on professional, customer-focused security and life-safety services and requires a security guard license and high school diploma.

Eligible for benefits including health and welfare, dental, vision, sick leave, vacation, and a 401(k). Responsibilities include welcoming guests, patrolling, monitoring alarms, and producing incident reports.

Qualifications

• Requires state/municipality security officer license(s)
• Minimum High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
• Must have reliable means of communication and transportation
• Strong interpersonal communication and neat appearance
• Write routine log entries and incident reports
• Previous contract security, law enforcement, military, or customer service experience helpful

Responsibilities

• Maintain professional demeanor and assist customers, employees, visitors, and guests
• Maintain a visible presence in the facility
• Monitor environment to detect suspicious or unsafe activity
• Familiarize with incoming/outgoing traffic and know customers, tenants, visitors
• Greet customers, visitors, staff, tenants, and guests professionally
• Answer phones in a professional manner
• Permit authorized entry and monitor entrances/exits
• Enforce facility policies within role limits
• Conduct required patrols on foot or by vehicle
• Observe departing personnel to prevent theft and ensure proper removal of property
• Follow emergency action plans and procedures
• Monitor alarms and systems
• Prepare reports on accidents and incidents
• Essential duties may vary by customer location
