Summary

Vertical Relevance is seeking an AWS Security & Compliance Consultant to join our team as a full-time remote employee. This role involves end-to-end planning, building, and deploying software systems, with a focus on developing well-constructed, testable code.

The AWS Security & Compliance Consultant will implement technical solutions for customer engagements, requiring strong teamwork, communication, patience, and organizational skills to ensure customer success.

Responsibilities

• Guide customers in their cloud adoption journey, providing technical and strategic advice.
• Consult, plan, design, and implement security solutions on cloud platforms:
• Design and automate security and compliance solutions.
• Become a deep technical resource to earn customer trust.
• Create high-quality technical content such as automation tools, reference architectures, and white papers.
• Innovate for customers and translate ideas into measurable results.
• Support solution development by conveying customer needs to inform technology roadmaps and share real-world challenges, recommending new capabilities.
• Assist with technical briefs and reference architecture implementations.
• Contribute to internal and external brand development through thought leadership, including writing blog posts and case studies with Marketing/Alliances.

Qualifications

• Experience architecting/operating automated Security & Compliance/DevSecOps solutions on AWS, with customer-facing experience.
• Knowledge of NIST 800-53, CIS, policy-as-code frameworks (OPA).
• Experience designing compliance-as-code strategies and custom controls (SCPs, Config Rules).
• Strong audit-readiness, evidence collection, risk management, stakeholder alignment, and executive reporting skills.
• Familiarity with Agile project governance and backlog management.

Sample Activities

Creating a Self-Service Account Framework

• Assist in designing organizational hierarchy and configuration templates.
• Develop referenceable playbooks with code examples.
• Create sample runbooks for AWS account setup automation, including security control policies.

Creating Security Threat Analytics and Dashboard Solutions

• Build frameworks to gather and interpret security event data.
• Select and leverage security tools like Macie, GuardDuty, Inspector, Security Hub.
• Implement security analytics workflows, including AWS Config rules, CloudTrail, and VPC FlowLogs.

Creating a Self-Service Compliance Framework

• Select tools for Policy-as-Code controls.
• Develop reference playbooks and automate control implementations with runbooks.
