General Dynamics - Bath Iron Works is seeking a Security Communications Specialist in Bath, ME. You will operate as the primary contact for BIW Security, Fire and EMS, contractors, law enforcement and government personnel, handling calls and coordinating responses with accuracy and urgency.

You will monitor access systems, alarms, and cameras, triage incidents, document actions, and communicate clearly with teams. This is a full-time role requiring flexible shifts to support 24/7 operations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications Word, Access, PowerPoint and Excel.
• Must successfully complete internal Security Communications Specialist training program.

Responsibilities

• Operate computerized systems as the primary contact for BIW Security, BIW Fire and EMS, Contractors, Law Enforcement and Government Personnel.
• Receive and respond to emergency and non-emergency calls via telephone, alarms and radio systems.
• Independently coordinate appropriate response to emergencies and document actions.
• Monitor facilities using cameras, access control and alarm systems.
• Conduct radio operations across multi-channel communications with internal and external agencies.
• Triage and prioritize emergencies and non-emergencies in a potentially stressful environment.
• Relay information effectively to appropriate personnel.
• Work varied shifts and overtime as required for 24/7 staffing.

Job description

The starting pay rate for this position is $22.12/hr.

The Security Department has an immediate need for highly motivated individuals to serve as Security Communications Specialists.

The Communications Specialist will be responsible for performing a variety of complex duties that include but are not limited to

• Responsible for the operation of computerized systems and related equipment in the course of serving as the primary point of contact for BIW Security, BIW Fire and EMS, Contractors, Law Enforcement and Government Personnel.
• Receive and respond to emergency and non-emergency calls from BIW employees, outside vendors, government and guard force personnel via telephone, alarms and radio systems.
• Must independently coordinate appropriate response to emergency incidents and complete appropriate documentation.
• Utilize camera systems, access control and alarms systems to monitor facilities, doors, building perimeters and sensitive areas.
• Radio operations utilizing multi-channel communications with all internal and outlying agencies.
• Ability to triage and prioritize emergency and non-emergency events in a potentially stressful environment.
• Have the ability to effectively communicate and relay information to appropriate personnel.
• Must be able to work various shifts and overtime as needed due to 24/7 staffing requirements.

This role follows a weekly schedule consisting of one 6-hour shift and three 12-hour shifts. The 6-hour shift occurs from Tuesday at 1045 PM through Wednesday at 445 AM. The 12-hour shifts run Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 445 PM to 445 AM.

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications Word, Access, PowerPoint, & Excel software programs required.
• Ability to successfully complete internal Security Communications Specialist training program.

Preferred Qualifications

• General working knowledge of Bath Iron Works properties.
• Experience with communications center operations.
• Experience with C-Cure 9000, exacqVision, and Digitalizer alarm reporting system.
• Possess excellent organizational skills and the ability to multitask.
• Capable of working independently or in a team setting with minimal supervision.
