Job summary

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is seeking a Kubernetes Engineer to design, deploy, and manage a Red Hat Kubernetes enclave. You will configure deployments to meet STIGs/JSIG and manage Red Hat Linux in a development or scientific computing environment.

Ideal candidates have 2–3 years of Kubernetes experience, a Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility, and KCNA certification. CKA and RHCSA are highly valued, with Ansible, PostgreSQL, and scripting skills strongly preferred.

Qualifications

• Active TOP SECRET clearance with SCI eligibility.
• U.S. Citizenship required for obtaining/holding a U.S. security clearance.
• 2–3 years in deploying and managing Kubernetes environments.
• Bachelor's degree not required; experience matters more.
• KCNA Certification held or in progress.
• Strong Linux background; familiarity with Red Hat Linux.
• CKA is highly desired but not required.
• Familiarization with Ansible, PostgreSQL, scripting (BASH, Python, Perl).
• CompTIA Linux+; RHCSA is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, management and administration of Kubernetes environment.
• Configure deployments to meet STIGs and JSIGs.
• Manage Red Hat Linux systems in a software development or scientific computing environment.
• Recommend and implement Kubernetes clusters, including utilization and workloads.
• Advise users on containerization best practices.
• Assist users in deploying containerized workloads at scale.
• Deploy support systems on Kubernetes (Red Hat IDM, GitLab, Mattermost).
• Troubleshoot Kubernetes performance issues.
• Develop example Kubernetes deployment packages and container build pipelines.
• Assist with software selection for Kubernetes workloads.
• Assist with container artifact management administration.
• Recommend best storage practices for Kubernetes.
